Amazonia- A worst-case scenario pop-up

Amazonia presents a worst-case scenario through a pop-up truck showcasing speculative products for a climate-ravaged future—a future where unchecked consumerism, corporate greed, and false narratives drive irreversible climate catastrophe. Amazonia challenges viewers to confront the harsh realities of climate change through everyday objects, making the consequences of unmitigated degradation tangible and relatable. The climate emergency is brought uncomfortably close to home, courtesy of the very entities driving the convenience economy—the all-too-real 'Amazonia'.

Amazonia debuts on April 14th as part of the Earth Day Initiative Festival in NYC.

Our Vision

Our goal is to push beyond the boundaries of our collective dissonance and harness the power of political imagination to rouse, inspire, and mobilize individuals towards boycotting, divesting, and protesting against the powerful industries and systems currently shaping our world.

The Amazonia Experience

The exhibition aims to engage and inspire through various touchpoints.

Pop-up Truck

The exhibit's centerpiece is a mock delivery truck stocked with the "Amazonia Basics" collection which features everyday objects designed for a new reality

Speculative Products

Inside the truck are 12 unnerving product solutions for a world grappling with the effects of climate change, probing the "what ifs" and "maybes" of our current trajectory

Commercial Ad

A commercial ad, produced by the Emmy-nominated Meerkat Media, adds another layer of urgency, leaving a lasting impression and inspiring viewers to take further action

Climate  Hotline

The exhibit will direct viewers to a 1-800 climate anxiety hotline, inviting them to express their concerns about our planet's future by screaming, venting, or simply sharing their worries

Grey Area Collective Action Lab

The Grey Area Collective Action Lab, a women-led initiative incubated at the School of Visual Arts' DSI program, harnesses the power of design, politics, and artistic practice to create impactful and transformative experiences. Collaborating with a global network of creators, we leverage our design and communication expertise to ignite audiences and spark collective action.

Through our Action Lab, we strive to connect the personal to the global, and the individual to the collective. We explore how seemingly disparate issues –are intricately woven together, and how our actions, however small, can make a difference.
